The USAF has published one of the best books on the PLAAF and its free
Ken Allen and Cristina Garafola of the U.S. Air Force’s China Aerospace Studies Institute has published one of the best books on the People’s Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF).
Ken’s book does not cover the hardware aspect of the PLAAF, he focused instead on the ‘software’ part.
The book is organized into six components with Ken writing on the organizational structure, personnel, education, training, and military diplomacy. Cristina was roped in to write on the strategy aspect.

Reminds of somthing like that which had a lot about a Motor Rifle Division, organization, equipment and usage at a local remainder bookstore -cleaned out with unit funds. Alternative was something which had to be signed out/in and could not leave depot etc etc vitually no difference. Guess what was used.
