From the link:
The list includes items such as clothes, towels, a compass, a torch, an combat mission plotter, a day's worth of food, a one-litre flask of water and a first-aid kit. The officers were additionally ordered to pack a sleeping bag and a camping mat.
What other army in the world requires soldiers to supply their own equipment? I also note that the requirement covers one day's span, just about how long the meat grinder will let them live.

Absolutely a quick study’: Ukrainians master Patriot system faster than expected

“They are the best of the best in what they do in air defense for Ukraine,” a U.S. general said.

Fowler's Modern English Usage 1926

Certain recent pedantic polemics on style have resurrected unhappy memories of hours spent propping up my eyelids while English teachers genuflected before the altar of Fowler.

Then there were various style manuals and the contemporary flood of studies written in consultantspeak.

I find fdr's writings refreshing.

Sevastapol under Ukrainian aerial and sea-borne drone attack again. That's a pretty large explosion against what appears to be a warship.

The Russian pilot that “killed” the unmanned drone gets his medal

Is close escort a valid tactic on the modern battlefield? WW2 close escort was seen as relatively ineffective. Escorts preferring to be way out in front to counter any threat rising to meet the bombers.
Of course a lot has changed since then.

France has been training 30 Ukrainian pilots on the mirage 2000 for over a month and a half.

I don't think you need to be military aircrew to realise that this is a formation for PR purposes and not a demonstration of tactics!

Well at least they have a nice effective blackout in place. That seems to be helping <roll eyes>

Sabre rattling? That’s one phrase for it I suppose. However since various Russian officials have been casually threatening nations on their border with attack, I think it does no harm to remind them that they would face opposition from a coalition of forces operating aircraft far better and more numerous than anything they can field.

True, and it appears the life expectancy has not improved for the Russians in the field, but at least they are still bringing a full one days food. When they only need to pack a snack, you know they are getting to a bad point...

A lot of that looks like cooked off cases, perhaps from a burnt out vehicle?
