Sergei Shoigu has made a statement on losses during the SMO 27th Feb - to date
HIS claim:
- Russia: 5937 KIA.
- Ukraine: 61000 KIA and 49000 WIA (such a loss rate would mean NBC or something else very very lethal)
Let me get this straight, after just 6000 troops lost (of 180000) Russia needs 300k troops MORE via mobilization?

I think we should run a competition to see how long Putin lasts, starting from Sun 25th Sept. Week 1 week 2 and so on. We can place the week number at the beginning of each post. I reckon we wont hear from vlad for a time when the bad news breaks that something has happened to him. Lets make it when it happened not when we hear about it.
I'm in for $10 on that sweepstake. I take a window cleaning whoopsie by 17:00UTC 28SEP22
(the voice of reason is getting just a mite weary with Putin)

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
Lithuanian MOD:
As Russia's military mobilisation will also take place near our borders, in the Kaliningrad region, Lithuania cannot just watch. Lithuania's Rapid Reaction Force is being put on high alert to prevent any provocation from Russia.

Quite a cute response. Perhaps the remainder of NATO countries bordering Russia should do likewise to force them to divert forces away from Ukraine?

1/ There'll be lots of commentary this morning about the logistical difficulties of Putin's announcement of a partial mobilisation. But I thought I'd add a few points, based on my own personal observations, of what it means politically and for the troops already in Ukraine….

Arestovych comments on the mobilisation, says the mobilised will only be used to replenish existing formations.

Putin is cornered thus dangerous indeed. 300.000 conscripts armed with steel helmets and AK-74 will end up as пушечное мясо (cannon fodder). Their best tank units are defeated, remaining stocks of mothballed armour are less and less usable, air force cannot gain air superiority and Putin will grow desperate more and more.
Even if he would use tactical nuke on the battlefield it will not bring him much advantage. Though most of the people are too afraid to even think about it the only option Putin has in order to win, is to drop nuclear warhead on Odessa (man, how he hates that city...) and then some other major town and if Ukraine wouldn't give in then he would wipe out Kyiv too. He would be the worst war criminal in history but does he give a damn? "Why do we need the world if Russia is not in it?"
We can only hope that he will not dare to go that far or his generals and army will deny such order. He is doomed but the question is if he will pull the rest of the humanity with him into abyss.

I don't think so. 300,000 ex military recalled conscripts along with anyone with skills is a big enough army to stand up to Putin, not to mention they are probably highly respected by the current serving soldiers, if they say "enough" I don't think many Russians will disagree. That would be one hell of a coup.

I seriously doubt the rashists will be able to get 300k warm bodies to do their bidding. Remember that everyone lies to everyone, I read a post (here maybe?) where a soldier clearly stated that their captain reported more than 100 soldiers operational in his unit while the reality was less than a quarter. They'll probably inflate the numbers to look good and show they reached their quota.

At least some Belarusians are not going down without a fight.

Let's reflect on the situation the Russian armed forces are in as they prepare for a influx of new mobilised reservists ...
They sent a portion of their training capability into front line service in Ukraine back in May
Forbes 5th May 2022
https://www.forbes.com/sites/davidax...h=3c6d55eba98f
The quantity and quality of equipment available to the Russians is low and declining
Breaking Defense 11th Sept 2022
https://breakingdefense.com/2022/09/...into-invasion/
The Russian Air Force has failed to control the skies and by some assessments, is incapable of operating in a coordinated way with ground elements
The Spectator 18th Sept 2022

Russia continues to move naval assets away from the combat area
Naval News 14th Sept 2022

I guess Mssr.Putin et al are relying on the spirit of the Great Patriotic War to get them through ..... in which case, training for those mobilised may well be similar to
JAS

It will be closer to 100,000 plus 200,000 wages pocketed by every man and his dog all the way up the food chain
