NutLoose “I’m confused, Ukraine missile attacks the sh*t out of one of your supply route bridges, hence have the coordinates laid in, so why the f**k would you assemble a pontoon bridge next to it where every Ukrainian and his dog could see and film its location and upload it. Are they really that stupid?”

Maybe they reckon the bridge is still just about ok or there’s another pontoon being readied somewhere, and this pontoon is a target dummy to draw fire.(?)

Minister: Slovakia may transfer MIG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine.

Slovak Defense Minister Jaroslav Nad said on July 25 that the country would consider transferring eleven MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine after the Slovak Air Force ceases to operate them in late August.

Quite an interesting read about how UAF have dramatically increased the effectiveness of Dutch\German Pz2000 systems.
The source seems very credible , but points out that the modifications are perhaps less secure than the native software.

I will also point out that germany delayed sending MARS 270 MLRS systems ( of which they have 100+ in storage) because it would take them months to update the software.

It seems Russia wanted to start building the Baykar drones after the success against Russia

https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/t...=ap_apu8b6bavq

Turkish drone maker Baykar has reportedly established a production facility in the UAE and Russia’s Vladimir Putin also wanted to set up a similar facility in Russia, it emerged on Tuesday.

According to CNN Turk, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told colleagues at a top party meeting on Monday that Putin had approached him during a recent meeting in Tehran to suggest a deal with Turkish firm Baykar to produce its attack drones, which have proved effective against Russian forces in Ukraine.

“Putin told me that he wants to work with Baykar,” Erdogan reportedly said. “He proposed to establish a factory in Russia as [Bayakr] has done in the UAE.”

A Baykar spokesperson denied that the company had established a factory in the UAE. The spokesperson declined to comment on the Russian proposal.

However, a source with knowledge of the issue said Baykar was indeed in the process of establishing a production line in the UAE.

Seems to be going a bit quite on the forums.
Is Russia spent and Ukraine prepping for an offensive?

It does seem odd to broadcast your intentions and timeline, I must admit.

Russia on the other hand being in a temporarily controlled area of Ukraine are stuffed trying to move anything on the quiet with Ukrainians willing to film and upload details in real-time.

You do wonder sometimes if broadcasting your intentions could be a ruse to tie up Russians and encourage them to transfer troops from areas of greater interest, rather like the allies did with Calais before pushing in through Normandy..

Another thing I noticed, the RAF Regiment are training Ukrainians in urban warfare, would it not have been better to use weapons the Ukrainians would be using, one assumes the AK can attach a BFA?

Nutloose, my understanding is that if the weapon has a bayonet lug than a blank firing adapter can be installed. The BFA isn't needed to fire blanks it only lets people around you know that your firing blanks and the ones I have and use are bright yellow

I thought it also retains enough pressure in the barrel allowing the gun to recock itself.

3 Things;
Its a visual indication to other trainees that blanks are being used.
As Nutty says, it retains backpressure to activate the gas-operated reloading/cocking system.
A blank cartridge does not fire a projectile, but it does fire debris and combustion gasses which can cause injury; the BFA limits the extent and velocity of the exhausted material.

Correct. Won't recock without one.

Boris Johnson awards president Zelensky with Sir Winston Churchill Leadership Award for incredible courage.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said “Churchill would have cheered and probably have wept too” if he heard Zelensky say he needed “ammunition, not a ride."

While the Germans were indeed encouraged to believe the D-Day landings were going to be somewhere other than Normandy, I think the mechanism used by the Allies was a bit more subtle than simply "broadcasting their intentions".

I read in some publication that the Russians are taking the first steps to make Kherson a Peoples Republic like Luhansk/Donets and that the Ukrainian announcement could be a warning shot across the bows of any Ukrainians who might be thinking that it would be nice to be a governor/ leading personality of such an entity: namely that they might only be in situ for a couple of months with an uncertain future afterwards.

There is then the obvious follow-on of inducing the Russians to move troops from the fighting around Donetsk.
