Is Ukraine about to have a war?
Administrator
Good Morning all:
I have moved most of the 'deep into the political back biting' posts over to the thread about the Ukraine war in Jet Blast.
Please, before you post, ask yourself: is this mostly political, or is there a military element to my post?
If it's political (like Nutloose's linked video to Lavrov's interview) then the Jet Blast thread is where it goes.
Thank you all in advance.

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...

"Routine training flights" have killed more of my colleagues than combat has.

Some aviation-related content on Russian plane intercepts. It's on the BBC, so will be "fake news" for a couple of the posters here I guess...

planes they are trying to intercept. That is due, in part, to their sucking at pilot skill called dissimilar formation flying.
Your attempt at equivalence falls short.
The film with the article is, to put it briefly, seasoned with a load of bollocks.
The images show the dangerous proximity of these encounters.
Journos and their sensationalist BS can be so annoying.

Oh, wait! Never mind flying too close to Russian aircraft, this video clearly shows NATO aircraft actually coming into contact with systems attached to another NATO aircraft. Perhaps the Beeb's right after all?

Now having looked at the linked video I don't see how anyone could judge the distance. What magnification was being used ?
I am puzzled to note - over a large number of your posts - that there is a (slight but constant ) apparent bias towards the Russian/Chinese position. Is there any reason for that ?

Looks like Poland is doubling-down on buying tanks, artillery, IFVs etc from South Korea - I presume they must be getting both a good price and early delivery…

Now that is one hell of a training commitment - and presumably having trained them we will have to provide their personal equipment and weapons..

Boris Johnson offers training to thousands of Ukrainian troops
Boris Johnson has travelled to Ukraine for the second time to meet Volodymyr Zelensky in a fresh show of support.…
During today’s meeting Johnson offered to launch a “major training operation” for the Ukrainian army, saying that Britain could train 10,000 soldiers every 120 days.
The programme would “change the equation of the war”, he told Zelensky, because it would give the Ukrainian army “the resilience they need to be victorious in their fight for enduring peace”.
The scheme would succeed Operation Orbital, under which the UK has trained more than 22,000 Ukrainian soldiers since 2015. The training would take place outside of Ukraine….
Each soldier would spend three weeks on the course, receiving battle skills as well as medical training and instruction in cybersecurity and counter-explosive tactics….

Does anyone have more information about the Russian tug hit this morning ? Initially it was supposedly hit and sunk by two Harpoons, but then the Harpoon information was withdrawn and subsequently i read that it was only damaged and was being salvaged.

Flight content. In one of the tactical Intelligence segments it shows the various snooping aircraft around the Ukrainian border etc.
A very good assessment here.
For English: choose CC, then Settings and Auto translate = English.

From the video doing the rounds of the missile strike, I suspect this is yet more wishful thinking on behalf of some pro-Russian posters (they trotted out the same line after the Moskva was hit). Unless of course they mean it being salvaged for scrap....
There also been some photos circulating of two Russian warships stooging around the gas platforms off the Romanian coast. It seems as though they have got the message loud + clear regarding staying a good distance away from the Ukrainian coast.

Being reported as possible U.K. supplied Harpoons or Brimstones used to hit the tug, some fascinating satellite images showing the reinforcements on snake island, would brimstone not acquire individual targets and take those out?

Remember the Russian ship Ukraine claimed hit but the trail went dead, it appears they may have hit one after all

Lithuania has suspended transit of various cargos to Kaliningrad. Up to 50% of all supplies, according to the Kaliningrad governor.
The sanctioned goods include building materials, metals and all other goods subject to EU sanctions.
whilst not a full blockade it is close to it and crippling for the local economy.
Russia will, it is assumed, either have to accept the sanctions or attempt to deblockade Kaliningrad.
In which case Belarus and the Suwalki corridor may come into play.
Perhaps not coincidently….
