Watch this to see how bad it is

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
Zelenskyy says 90% of the pilots that risked all to deliver food, water, ammo, weapons to Azovstal Mariupol defenders, allowing them to hold for weeks, did not return……
8.44 p.m: Ukrainian defenders at Azovstal managed to last that long thanks to the heroic sacrifice of Ukrainian pilots, who were secretly delivering food and water to the besieged still mill, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Ukrainian media.
"Unfortunately, a very large number of our pilots died. Absolutely heroic people who knew how difficult it was to fly to Azovstal and bring them medicine, food, and water," Zelensky said.
The President said that there were no air corridors to the Azovstal plant due to the strong Russian air defense systems in the area.
“Helicopter pilots for many weeks were flying there, knowing that 90% do not return… Imagine what these people did. They flew there to give food, water, and weapons to Azovstal defenders and took away the wounded. We lost many pilots. They are absolutely heroic, "Zelensky stressed.

And there, ladies and gentlemen er… folks, is the reason that Ukraine were looking into heavy lift UAVs.

It's not - they used to use the seaports and now they have to use a stressed rail network and load/unload at the border.

I posted the below in JB, but may be of interest here:-
The linked article is interesting- an interview from 1998 where an ex-Soviet Bioweapon Colonel talks about weaponising

Also interesting is the map of countries with outbreaks - the non-African ones are mostly suppliers of weapons to Ukraine

Ohhh dear, nevermind
I’m sorry, but Germany WTF are you doing?
That’s only an initial 15 out of 50 promised and in JULY!!!! And 4 ,000 rounds per vehicle, that is 3.6 minutes of ammunition per vehicle. I know Brazil is supplying ammo but has it been delivered?

Ukraine will receive 15 anti-aircraft "Gepard" tanks from Germany in July, a German Defense Ministry spokesperson said Friday.
Included with the arms delivery will be training support by the German Armed Forces and the provision of nearly 60,000 rounds of ammunition, Germany's dpa news agency reported.

# Deutschland, Deutschland, hinter allen...

So you prefer your good old blitzkrieg huns?
They live a tad closer to Russia on the continent and are no nuclear power for a reason. Add the experience of having been Soviet occupied until 1990 and you would stay on the cautious side yourself. They had to buy out the Russian troops which took until August 1994 and long term commit to import russian gas. Now they are dependent on imports and moving energy imports to new suppliers takes time.

How many East European countries also have comparatively recent experience of being occupied by Russian troops btw? East European countries that are far closer to Russia and are (were) also dependant upon Russian gas, yet are doing far more for Ukraine.
Germany's (in)action, given the strength of their economy and position as one of the 'big two' of the EU, is a travesty.

Germany is conscious that it has recent history with Russia, unlike the rest of Europe. consequently they had a political consensus to deal with Russia as a friendly country after the Soviet Union collapsed.
I don't think that has changed, despite the current Ukraine conflict. Russia will still be there after this war is over, so Germany is engaged in damage control for now.
They will be very slow to deliver heavy weapons to Ukraine, partly because they have almost none themselves, partly because they do not want German arms attacking Russians again.
Similarly, they are understandably reluctant to trash their economy by ending their use of Russian energy, as that is an own goal with no offsetting benefit for Ukraine,
Obviously, this means that they are assuming that there will be a negotiated settlement .. That assumption may be in error, as the 'break the back' comments of the US Defense Secretary suggest that a clear defeat of the Russian invasion is the US/NATO objective
