RN "Fly Navy" Zap
A old dear was talking about a German POW who worked on their farm towards the end of WW2.
"He was such a lovely polite lad and worked really hard. He even helped us with the garden around the farmhouse. Everyone was really sad when he left to go home and we packed him off with food and presents.
Next spring when the daffodils flowered in the garden they spelt Heil Hitler".

Yes. EAP 8 Aug '86. The rest of the EAP tp's were crabs so the sticker didn't last long! At one time at Warton we had 2 pilots who were ex Navy, Paul Millett and myself, and one ex RN Observer who in my time i/c became Chief Nav, -- Roy Kenward. The RN/RAF banter was always good hearted and no more serious than in the Services.
EAP was super and we made 1.1 on flight 1. And the Typhoon looks even better!

I think it was the 1971 season when the display Buccaneer finished his slots with a near-vertical bank, bomb door open to reveal FLY NAVY in dayglo.

FLY NAVY!
Several years ago I was invited as a guest to an Officers Mess Christmas Ball at Hermitage Barracks - at some point in the night we were issued with a gingerbread house making kit that then needed to be decorated. Mine was adorned with large 'FLY NAVY' writing in icing on the roof.
I didn't win the gingerbread house making competition. Pah!
