It maintains the pathetic Media description of “Giant Hercules transport”. Traditional, innit?
One assumes the writers have only ever flown with EastJet or Ryanair, and have never been on a ‘big aeroplane’.

'Giant RAF planes'
Reminds me of a story at Guetersloh in '74. American visitor sees his Belfast on the dispersal, 'Geez but that's a big plane' says he: quick witted Mover (yes they are out there) retorts ' Yes. but you should have seen the one that brought it in!'
"Mildly" Eccentric Stardriver
A bit like the question frequently asked at Cosford Museum. "Are any of these aircraft real, or are they all kits?" Reply is either "You should see the size of the box it came in" or "It was one hell of a tube of glue"

If the writer thinks we have a giant RAF now, he should have seen it 60 or more years ago...

Ok, I stated this thread because I thought it was very poor journalism but as most threads go it has drifted. My favourite was the comment by the pilot assigned to fly the first Tacit Blue aircraft, who said “Did they forget to take it out of the crate?”.
My favourite article of the genre, the famous Birmingham ghost ww2 Hercules

We all know that to the media anything bigger than a Piper Cub is giant. I once paraphrased Douglas Adams on the subject when I mentioned the A380 in a Facebook post:
The A380 is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the back of the C-130 to the rear loading ramp, but that's just peanuts to the A380.
