Modern Aircraft have EGPWS that gives out a warning of ‘Don’t sink’ on approaches. I just wondered, when taking off in that steam driven ergonomic slum, did the Nav in the back have a similar role by prodding the Pilot with a pointy stick and shouting ‘Don’t sink!’? See Video at 0:40 secs.

Good source on Buccaneers here - including early development and "good ideas" that weren't proceeded with:
The Blackburn Buccaneer
Correct - that is exactly what it was.

You're not banging out just yet, may I bring your attention to the Vulcan vs the BUFF, Buff sure was nasty but was the Vulcan ugly? VC10 in RAF transport command, I'd say stunning.
Slight drift, as it's the bastard lovechild of a Anglo-French relationship but Concorde is ugly?
I do accept that we've produced some aesthetically challenging aircraft but we've also created some absolute beauties.

Agreed, although our preferences on colour scheme may differ, I think Miss Demanour works well.
While we're on the subject, Hawk is a pretty but no-nonsense aircraft and IMO looks best in Navy colours, reminiscent of an A-4 from certain angles.

There are many shortcomings and failures which can be laid at the door of the British aviation industry (RIP), but making ugly aircraft is not one of them, with very few exceptions.
Short Seamew
Short Skyvan
Bristol Freighter
Blackburn Beverley
Blackburn Buccaneer
BAC TSR2
Hunting/BAC Jet Provost
Personal view only, no doubt many will disagree.
Proving, once again, that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I would venture that in my opinion, the TSR2 was beautiful. I have a soft spot for the buccaneer, and would have thought the jet provost was entirely inoffensive, if not in the final analysis beautiful.
Agreed - there's not much wrong with the last three on that list.
