Agree strongly! The ‘swoosh’ was not necessary ... a dignified cheat line would have sufficed. Just a bit too much visual clutter for my (geriatric) taste.

Fuselage roundel needs to be bigger, a lot bigger, but at least they got the colours correct.

That is so true. How can the UK, with some of the best industrial and graphic designers and add agencies on the bloody planet, come up with something that looks so bad !! The mind boggles. Has nobody heard of understatement.
Cheers

From the horses mouth...

“The design is correct in all respects and carefully follows the correct protocol for displaying the Union Flag on an aircraft. The convention is for the flag design to appear as though it is flying from a flag placed on the nose of the aircraft, as it travels through the air. When viewing the starboard side (right hand side), this can give the mistaken impression that the design is backwards, or upside down, when in fact the observer is simply viewing the reverse side of the flag.

A keen eye will notice that this convention has been consistently applied on all flags represented on the aircraft, including on the Union Flags on the two forward-most aircraft doors. This protocol is not unique to the UK, a simple on-line search for images of the United States’ Air Force One starboard side will show that an identical convention has been followed.”

What are the two sets of three horizontal black/grey bars on the rear and forward fuselage? Like others, looks a bit cluttered for me, but not that bad. Serial is definetly too big!

No, it isn't. Just because people keep repeating that myth in this thread, doesn't make it true.

And, talking about myths, the claim that the Ł0.9 million cost included a check is now clearly nonsense - or are we suggesting that it was carried out while it was in the paint bay, while dodging the strippers and sprayers ?

Yes, the scheme doesn't look too bad - but worth nearly a million quid ??

I like it, I also think it's great for all ministers and Royal family to use to travel the world. It's not just a Boris bus as you all seem to think.

Formation lights for when in AAR mode, I would guess.

Those aren't new, just slightly more obvious now against the white fuselage.

That will be because they are not airframe specific and get swapped around the fleet, if you painted them white you would be tying them up to one frame.

Quite like it - agree that the serial is too big and the roundel too small but would like the gold letters redone.
Having said that I do hope it’s first outing is Paris...

At least someone has certainly been clever enough to send a wee message to Wee Nicola!

Looks brilliant. I like that the pods are still grey: reminds us of its day job.

Sorry, but it looks like something left over from the 2012 London Olympics which some marketing guru found on an old laptop and decided to pass off as ‘contemporary’.

Even Donald’s new-look AF01 has a more ‘professional’ dare I say ‘Stately’ look...

I am not a 'leftie' or a 'rightie'. I have always thought that the UK should have a long range aircraft for these duties. The problem is that it has been arranged behind closed doors and without consultation. As to the design, the wavy line is simply fashion. For decades, aircraft had predominantly straight lines but about ten years ago, the swoops and waves came in. In due course they will go out. The real problem is the overblown flag. It is redolent of Boris and his crowd. As someone said, 'had they not heard of understatement?' I don't mind the gold or the oversize reg, but the flag image is as bad as I thought it would be.

However, it does not really matter, as the rest of the world already knows we are banana republic.

I’ve grown so tired of certain dreary people who delight in running our country down when we have so much to be proud of compared to most other nations. Why not indulge in an occasional act of flamboyance?
