Anyone remember who did the missed touch and go in the Vulcan (or was it a Victor) on the USS Forestall back in the day. If my memory serves me well I believe it involved a major exercise in the Med.in the late '50's when the British aircraft had just called the Umpires to tell them they were over US 6th fleet and had just released a nuclear weapon and the 6th fleet was now dust. It was reputed that the captain of the Forestall had called up the Vulcan and invited them down for coffee. The Vulcan some time later appeared several miles out on the approach to the carrier configured for landing and did a slow flyby very low down the deck. It was reputed to have caused mayhem on the carriers deck with the guy with the bats throwing them away and consternation on the bridge as well.

Memories ah.

Can’t say for certain what crew Is doing the pass. Our squadron routinely did anti-shipping and fighter exercises with the Navy. Usually followed up with a pass of the carrier if available.
