We used to use canaries to warn of a gas attack but they were difficult to see.

Latest instructions from the Fuhrerbunker.....and when we get to Dover, The Cat jumps off and leads the British Bulldog up the nearest tree. The British are all animal lovers and will immediately drop their weapons and man the ladders. Be in Whitehall within the week. ....
