In my fast jet world the boss was only called Boss if he was popular. If he wasn't we had plenty of other names for him! Thankfully, in my time in command appointments, I was rarely called anything other than Boss or (in the DIOT context) Sir; my staff had to show proper regard in front of the officer cadets! Lol!
