HMS Vengeance returns from patrol damaged.

Reports in the Telegraph saying that the vessel had 30% of its sonar panels missing, when returning from a 3 month patrol.

Is this a story? Every picture I have seen of a submarine that has been at sea for a while has tiles missing.

Somewhat harsh. Part of these submarines' jobs is to get up close and personal with their adversaries, with an inevitable increase in the risk of hitting ice, ships, other submarines etc. The damage may have been caused by avoidable errors, but it's also possible that bad luck played a part...

Oops, sorry, my last post is way off line. I read too quickly and thought Astute/Trafalgar class, which do get up to some "interesting" stuff. Mea culpa.

The business of these boats is definitely *not* to get up close and personal with anything!

When is the on patrol French boat coming in? Might be worth seeing how she looks, seem to recall there was a coming together a few years ago.

Looking at the photographs it has lost a few tiles which is normal. To think the Telegraph used to be good on RN stories it now seems to be on the same level as the Sun.
