HMS Vengeance returns from patrol damaged.
Reports in the Telegraph saying that the vessel had 30% of its sonar panels missing, when returning from a 3 month patrol.

Somewhat harsh. Part of these submarines' jobs is to get up close and personal with their adversaries, with an inevitable increase in the risk of hitting ice, ships, other submarines etc. The damage may have been caused by avoidable errors, but it's also possible that bad luck played a part...
Oops, sorry, my last post is way off line. I read too quickly and thought Astute/Trafalgar class, which do get up to some "interesting" stuff. Mea culpa.
