Perhaps we can use these drones as a potential target for the new METEOR missile? Scramble Q1 from CBY and see if he can see from BVR? (Sorry)

Aw Geez Ya'll!

Put a shotgun on a drone....and do the Counter Drone intercept thing.....job done!

Oh...sorryo....no guns allowed....just do the Kamikaze thing with a Drone v Drone....problem sorted.

Or....how's about an RAF Puma on standby with some Lads aboard with Lasso's.

Perhaps a Plod Team that tracks down the Drone and when the operator is apprehended they hold a public flogging by the Beefeaters at the Tower of London!

It's reported that the police are alleged to have H&K 417 7.62mm rifles to use against drones. Good luck with that - so long as I'm not the one who is down range.

Plumbing is about as relevant as most of the rest of the crap I'm reading about this incident today!

Used to be something called the Bird Control Unit. A few ounces of No 6 should sort it.

Happy Christmas to all except our American cousins; and Happy Holidays to them.

The V1 was powered by a pulse jet. It was NOT a rocket!

I am proud to work at the world’s busiest single-use rwy (at present!) airport and we are all gutted that a couple of drones have ruined everyone’s xmas.

Touring the terminals I have noticed little to none aggression from pax and many project workers like myself have volunteered to help the ops team manage the displaced pax.

Current list of potential Bandits are:

Anti-gatwick expansion lobby groups.
Bored teenagers with mad ECM spoofing skills.
The EU Commission seeking to undermine British industry.
Islamic State.
The Russian GRU.
The Chinese Peoples’ Liberation Army - model aircraft division!

You've forgot the people's front of Judea.

My only real surprise is it's taken so long for someone to do something like this.

Anybody any ideas about what military capabilities might actually help? ( Apart from a rock squadron “ dominating” the surrounding countryside!)

This kind of threat has been a problem in hot and sandy places for a few years now. Except there, they had improv grenades/explosives attached.

There are ways to deal with drones electronically.

The import of this kind of threat is a hard problem.

“We expect better of the fourth estate..”. So anyone, foreign power or no-mark attention seeker, can shut down any of our airports at will ....and we expect better of the press??
