Sigmund Benjamin Schloss
Not sure if it is a good forum, please move it accordingly if necessary.
I have not been able to find anything on aviation career of the man.
I presume Sigmund Benjamin Schloss was a WWII US aviator, finding no mention of USAAF career, I wonder if he was army pilot. In the late 1940s he imported some L-4 Cubs into France, and then he operated some light aircraft between France and UK. Seemingly in mid 1950s he returned to the US, where he passed away a few years ago.
Any ideas by any chance?

Not sure if any help Franek but searching using the military name format - Schloss, Sigmund Benjamin - gives a few instant results on Ancestry.com and also Fold 3.
A 1940 Census listing somebody of that name in Salt Lake City,Utah - on Ancestry.com
and also a Passport application by somebody of that name comes up on Fold 3.
I do not have an account with Ancestry therefore I cannot see all the details, but there are also other documents under that name as well.

Hello
Yes, I have browsed through the available records of S B Schloss, and it looks his father arrived arrived from Germany to California, and could be confused with him. He was drafted to the Army, indeed, but it does not give any lead as to where he learned to fly and where he did his service. I find no next of kin of his either, so really not sure where to ask. He was living at Croydon at times, so was a frequent visitor in the UK in 1940s/50s.
Best wishes

The S B Schloss with serial number #39116995 was listed as born about 1922.
Yes we saw that there was a Croydon connection with the Fairchild F24W etc.
And yes unfortunately the service number does not help unless there is a facility available to check a military career from a service number.

I am afraid it is not possible to check this in St Louis, the general reply being that the files were lost in fire. Not sure how much truth in that.
Anyway, I am hoping that someone came across any info on him.
