P8 Infrastructure at Lossiemouth
Recent reports suggest a multi-miilion pound development to be constructed at Lossiemouth in advance of the P8's arrival. This will include a three bay aircraft hangar with associated maintenance workshops and admin offices.
It's been a few years since I served at Lossie, (226 OCU '79 - '81), and I'm wondering where on the airfield the new facility will be built. I'd hazard a guess the best place would be shaky eight's old dispersal or maybe over where 202 kept their Sea King?
Any other guesses?

Presumably the Lossiemouth P-8 simulator is a full mission simulator in a secure area, rather than just a 737 pilot simulator?
Surplus,
Waterbeach is in the process of being demolished to provide a new Town, the same fate as has befallen Oakington.

There are a number of reasons for the hangar space needed for the RAF P8 fleet, the aircraft have to operate in a salt rich environment, spend far more time at low level in a high fatigue regime and the aircraft are packed with Avionic systems in the place that Ryanair has seats.
All of this requires far more mainanace per flight hour hence the requirement for what at first glance seemed to be a lot of hangar space for a small fleet.

Ecce Homo! Loquitur...
That’s interesting, all reports state the P-8A will operate from above 10,000ft up to FL300. How much salt spray do you get at 10,000ft?

But they will be sitting outside at Lossie in a salt enriched environment.
