Box has an American part number so it may not be from a RN source.

It's a NATO Stock Number, the 01 indicates the country of origin is the US, but it doesn't say anything about who owns it.

I don't own this space under my name. I should have leased it while I still could

Hmmmm. The Toyota I drive has "Made in Japan" engraved in numerous places. If I crash it into a school bus in Mississippi, does that mean Japan is at fault?

The weight being in lbs will narrow it down. All UK ammo is in Kgs

In the noozepaper photo, they show some other gun firing, the Phalanx is the Gatling gun with the white cylinder on top.

There are hundreds of thousands, possibly a million tons of surplus military ammunition dumped in the Beaufort's Dyke trench, six miles off Stranraer on the West coast of Scotland. Most of it is at 300 metres depth and some of it is reported to consist of phosgene gas shells!

Malware

When I opened the link to the Plymouth Herald my Web protection told me that it had blocked malware. I don't know if it has piggybacked into PP or to the newspaper website. just thought that you might like to know in case you don't have the computer version of a condom
