I'm confused too, since last week they have an allocated aircraft, ZP806, they have an OC, Wg Cdr Adam Smolak, who said they would 'stand up' during the summer, but I've seen no official statement in public that they have yet. I assume manning have arranged the necessary guys and gals. I understand the remaining aircraft are due by year end, the last first flew on 15 SEP.

N_a_B - a stand alone programme looms for France - surely that's how they like it. I suppose an SPD/Greens led government in Berlin might try to back out of the P-8 deal.

They like stand alone programs where someoneelse pays at least for part of the bills.

Don't think so. They won't buy another batch probably but they won't cancel this one. The French Alternative would be much more expensive and the P-3 need urgent replacement. And it's a solid/fair deal.

P8 Production run

As the orders increased, then the production line remained open, the information was correct at the time but things change.

And, as noted, the pressure to free up space to ramp up 737-MAX production went away….

I suspect you're correct - the P-8 is built on a separate line. IIRC, there are two lines dedicated to commercial 737s - all MAX now - and one dedicated to the P-8 (ITAR controls and the like).
Before the grounding, I'm sure Boeing wanted to finish up production of the NG series (the P-8 is based on the NG) and convert that line to additional MAX capacity. However this is temporary - MAX production is picking up again so before long there will again be pressure to convert the P-8 line to additional MAX capacity.

I thought 54 Squadron (Poseidon Flt) was the OCU as the Poseidons come under the ISTAR umbrella or have I misunderstood?

I think you're right. 54 currently operates a detachment as the Posideon OCU,. I haven't seen anything that says 201 will be the OCU rather than a frontline squadron

The UK’s seventh Poseidon is on its way to Lossiemouth today. It is named ‘William Barker VC’ in honour of the RCAF
pilot awarded the Victoria Cross whilst serving with 201 Squadron during the First World War.

I originally thought you were being funny. Just incase, it looks like it hasn't been officially named yet. I would guess vinyl letters and a sense of humour is the culprit.
