"In the continuing battle between aeroplanes and the Earth..."

I'm trying to find the origin and correct form of an aviation quote or cliché I'm sure I saw in the Military Aviation area of PPRuNe, but which I apparently can't remember closely enough to allow the search function to tie down.

It is something like: "In the continuing battle between aeroplanes and the Earth, the Earth has never lost." Any thoughts gratefully received...

Maybe this...

In the ongoing battle between objects made of aluminum going hundreds of miles per hour and the ground going zero miles per hour, the ground has yet to lose.

Having seen a Tiger Moth spear into the ground seven eighths of the way around a loop and then the pilot wade out of the wreckage: Speed Kills!.

FED,

No, it's not the speed - but the bump when you hit the ground !

Danny.

It's not the fall.... it's the sudden stop at the bottom.

Aeroplanes fly (basically) using Bernoulli's Principle. The Earth works according to Newton's Law of Gravity. A Law beats a Principle every time.

Hardly anyone has died while flying. Most die when ceasing to fly all of a sudden.

When flying, I always sit at the rear of the aircraft, have you ever heard of an airliner backing into a hill?

The probability of survival is inversely proportional to the angle of arrival.

Remember one thing, the Pk (Probability of kill) of the ground is always 100%.

— origin unknown, but a much used philosophy by the instructors at the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC) in Fallon, NV.

The phrase you are looking for is...

"In the continuing battle between granite and aluminium - granite is yet to lose"
