Fat Leonard

https://www.washingtonpost.com/graph...seventh-fleet/

Eight current and former Navy officials — including an admiral — were named in a new indictment in the “Fat Leonard” bribery case on Tuesday. Leonard Glenn Francis, a Malaysian defense contractor, has pleaded guilty to bribing “scores” of Navy officials with cash, prostitutes and other gifts — such as hotel stays, airfare and electronics — so that they would feed him classified or inside information, which he used to defraud the Navy. The slowly unfolding investigation has exposed a staggering degree of corruption within the 7th Fleet.

Authorities in the United States and Singapore have filed criminal charges against 27 people so far. Prosecutors have said 200 people are under scrutiny, but only a few have been named publicly. The Navy has also disciplined four admirals for violating military law or ethical regulations........

Maybe this time we'll see more than hand slaps and mere rank reductions for the VSO's?

From where I sit (retired officer, USN) some folks need to end up in Fort Leavenworth's military prison. These folks were senior enough to know better, and they let the side down ... call them to account, and music must be faced. I'd come back onto active duty to sit on that court martial, if asked.

We won't see a flag officer in Leavenworth, I wager, whether he deserves it or not.

The head of US Naval Intelligence being one of the Officers involved... Despite having his Security Clearance yanked....the Navy left him in charge of Naval Intelligence despite his not being allowed to view any classified material!

Yep.....the Admirals are sure going to get their just desserts aren't they?

While a Special Agent for NIS (now known as NCIS) we had a saying for this....."Zero's took no hits!".

The Admiral had the nerve to complain that the jail term would aggravate his PTSD, which of course was recently diagnosed.

Perhaps the Federal Correction System will provide him some free PTSD Counseling while he is busy working as a Mess Cook in the Prison Gally.
