Attendees of that ministerial meeting are probably keen fans of Hollywood horror films about "Russian invasion".
The US battalion has bet the right horse, though - the girls in Poland are definitely more attractive than those in the neighbouring countries.

Ten Years too late. The rest is "signaling" for both Russian consumption and allied consumption, at the political level.
As a senior Army officer once described it to us (not a direct quote, paraphrasing)
"... when the 82d airborne was quickly deployed into the Mideast after Saddam invaded Kuwait, the first 72 hours was a calculated strategic risk intended to send a signal ... but the iron majors in the plans and ops shops referred to them as the "82d speed bump division" until more and heavier forces had deployed into theater."
Speed bump battalions, at the moment, but mostly sending a political signal.

Yes, because of course the biggest threat we have in Europe now comes from Russia., it's so obvious to everybody.
Orthodox churches being built everywhere, Russians forcing their food on us, aggressively-looking Russian ladies in the streets with militant clothing, occasionally blowing themselves up, all the latest terrorist actions in France, Belgium, UK... having been committed by Russian militants, Russian culture being forced on us more and more everyday. Camps everywhere in Western Europe, full of Russian immigrants....
Suburbs out of control because of Russian presence
Streets in major cities of Europe looking as if in Russia
Free-trade treaties opening our borders and market to Russian products
Stupid movies with Russian behaviours forced on us and our kids.
What a joke : how long are we going to follow those war-mongers from the other side of the Atlantic, who should better take care of their own migrant and alien population

Not a bad place to be based and close to the Romanian Riviera.
All the Romanians I met a couple of weeks ago in Bucharest were very friendly and it'll doubtless be the same at Mihail Kogălniceanu.
Only problem being that 'MK air base', as they call it, is already something of a Little America...
Still, by the time the Typhoons are due to deploy, the next US President might perhaps have had a meeting with Vladimir Putin and moderated her aggressive tone towards Russia?

No chance - if it's the old lady on pills who gets elected ( "the sadistic nurse in a mental hospital" as Boris Johnson said) then she will sent her country to another war. It has been some time her country has not been to war and has not been bombing some cities (repeat after me " if it's the other side, it's a war crime - if it's us, it's collateral damages")
How many are we to hope that they will fail this one the way they failed in Vietnam...
... which might happen facing the Russians this time (remember, Napoleon and Hitler figured they could - Great Patriotic Wars N°1 and N°2...) Let's wait and see.
Knowing the social and gender composition of US forces for having been at war with them in the previous century, we might be heading for some entertaining surprises.

"..in a bid to halt migrants ". Well we could always have refrained from encouraging rebellion and supporting terrorism (by our own definition) in the first place. (No I'm I'm not an Assad or Putin fan but did the situation then really compare with the current horror?)
