Mirage 2000D MLP

DGA France have just announced that 55 x Mirage 2000D will be subject to a MLP to extend them in service to 2030. Other headline elements of MLP: 1 add an air-ground canon, 2 replace Magic with MICA (short range air to air missile for self defence), 3 avionics.

Regards
Batco

a lot less than it would take to develop and put into service FCAS, UCAS, whatever other Combat Air System is currently on the drawing board!

Surely, and for all sorts of reasons - not least fleet commonality, it would make far more sense to procure more Typhoons?

Personally, I like the idea of a 'stretched' two - seater with CFTs, evolved EJ200 - maybe even a bigger wing. Clearly, this is in the realm of fantasy (it kind of makes sense, so clearly won't be investigated!) but additional 'vanilla' Tiffies would be just fine.

A two seat Tranche 3B with CFTs, AESA radar and Storm Shadow/Brimstone capability would make an ideal Tornado replacement.
