Dunno, I'm a techie, not an engineer. Best person to ask is that bloke with a brain the size of a planet; Julian Young, I think he was the driving force behind it (may not be though)

HQ Military Air Traffic Operations (HQ MATO) also had a badge, but Google is preventing me from finding an example. It was used by several Area Radar Units until they acquired their own badges. Never had one for ATC as a Branch, though, or for individual Towers [being subordinate to the Station]. I always fancied being OC 3216 ATC Sqn [no, not THAT ATC].

Does anyone else think what a waste of money in a time when there are cutbacks all round.
And where will it end, when the RAF are reduced to wearing uniforms plastered in badges that would not look out of place in some African backwater?.

You could adapt the wriggly trade one for everyone,
For scribblies a clenched hand holding a quill
For engineers a clenched fist holding a spanner
For catering a clench fist holding a fork
For PTI a clench fist holding a dumbell
For regiment a clench holding a bayonet.

@ PN ... your post #72 led me to a interesting discovery of a Military outfit that would appear to offer me money in return for my assortment of [mint] cloth badges that just sit in a drawer.
