25 Years on Ops

RAF Tornado flies in ‘desert pink’ to mark 25 years on operations. Don't think it's flown yet as it looks too neat - no streaks nor TR soot! Looks good though. Gonna need a bigger rudder soon.

Very nice paint job but when are the fast jet world going to catch up.

Wessex Fleet 33 yrs continuous Ops in NI 1969 - 2002
Puma Fleet 45 yrs Ops 1971 - Present (NI, Belize, Kosovo, Iraq, Afghan etc )
Chinook Fleet 34 yrs continuous ops 1982 - Present (Falklands, NI, Bosnia, Kosovo, Iraq x2, Lebanon, Sierra Leone, Afghan etc)
Merlin 2004 - 2015 Bosnia, Iraq, Afghan and would have been more if not handed over to the Navy
Sorry boys if I have missed any out but the SH force has been on Ops for years with little or no fanfare

Is it going to fly? Is that going to be a one way flight to Leeming?

The eyes look as though it's had a heavy night. Other than that, a very nice paint job.

I bet you're fun to have at a party!

This is banter by the way. Sometimes it is necessary to spell it out on this forum. Otherwise nobody will believe me after the event.

Nice. Is it actually “proper paint” or will it go all “runny” after a bit of Marham rain/snow/wind etc?
Who actually comes up with the “OP” name? Please don’t tell me it’s hours of meetings by people getting paid a lot of money? Reckon someone will though

Heavy night or just tired? I can't believe I was a Boy Scout when these first came into service!

Well done chaps...

Nice to see. I would argue that the WE177 QRA task counted as an Op, and that makes the GR virtually constantly on Ops from initial declaration.

Of course its Banter, always has been and always will be, I was expecting the truckie fleets to join in as well. Hats off to them for all they have done over the last 25 and still are today. We all have a place and a part to play, and lets be honest we would have loved to have had the odd FJ over NI in the bad days!!!!!

Huge

I expected at least a little nibble. Remarkable restraint.

Bravo.
