Thumbs up And now some motivation for the New Year

Its that time of the year when I have spent FAR too long online; however I came across this and thought it was worth sharing even if only vaguely aircrew related. For those that have worked with SF you will probably identify with some of the traits

Over a few weeks of difficult training my SEAL class, which started with 150 men, was down to just 35. There were now six boat crews of seven men each.
Nice maths! Had me with my shoes and socks off though to figure out this doesn't quite add up......

Good read on a boring afternoon though.

The maths had me scratching my head too. That aside, he's quite a guy for sure. I have a cousin in Virginia.....one of his sons has recently qualified as a USN SEAL. Really does sound like hell!!!!! I've often wondered how their training compares to SBS or SAS?

Our Delta Force copied a lot of the training techniques the SAS use during the Assessment Phase as I understand it.

That was due to the experience its founder, Colonel Charlie Beckwith, obtained while serving with the SAS prior to Delta being formed.

I have read Charlie Beckwith's book and you are indeed correct, most of Delta was based on the SAS model (in the beginning anyway)

If you listen to the audio he actually says "42" and not "35" which is in the transcript. It is us Royal Marines who are renown for our 'great' maths, not the SEALs!

I would assume the Rock's stand in sheer awe of the Marines.
