I didn't ever hear a single RAF Regt gunner claim that in my 22 years of working with them closely. I met more than a handful of knuckleheads in the RAF Regiment but even those individuals never so much as mentioned the concept of a "big 3" let alone claimed to be a part. I think it's army lore more than anything else.

A small part of the RAF Regt of course form a small part of the SFSG. I suspect that some of the more vanilla army regiments invented this "big 3" theory based on that and that alone.
Who by all accounts have aquitted themselves well. The rest of the RAF Regt (non-SFSG) that I have had dealings with spent most of the time running on about the "big three", and how they were the equal of the Paras and Royals. Maybe I was just unlucky....

I noticed that of the first sniper section the RAF lad is reloading using his left hand which looks a little odd.

Maybe you're right, or maybe I've not met the right members but I think our perceptions of a whole group can easily be tainted by a few bad individuals, it's easily done.

Admittedly, although I generally have a lot of time for gunners (being ex TG8), I did have almost exclusively negative experiences around II Sqn RAF Regt after a tour with them in Basra but again, maybe I was just unlucky to meet the few big timers amongst the good guys. All trades have their stupid minority that everyone remembers.
