Hot Shots

Watching Hot Shots again - great stuff for cheering up a grey day ....(OK.. I was also reminding myself of some of the aircrew characters I have met over the last 50 years) I wondered what had happened to all the Gernatts in the opening sequence...where did they end up?

OMS - do ever wonder if you should get a "life". SWMBO is constantly telling me that I am "wasting" time on PPrune - myself, I enjoy nostalgia.....

I like something light to watch while I am doing the ironing...

Blazing saddles is another one..but there are no aeroplanes in it...

Life? Dont talk to me about life!

PS: I guess this link may answer my question!

Wouldn't I love to fly one of those again - that's if I could fit in it of course!

Blazing Saddles the "bean" scene. Childish but funny as hell.

Airplane (1980) still makes me laugh:

Roger Murdock: Flight 2-0-9'er, you are cleared for take-off.
Captain Oveur: Roger!
Roger Murdock: Huh?
Tower voice: L.A. departure frequency, 123 point 9'er.
Captain Oveur: Roger!
Roger Murdock: Huh?
Victor Basta: Request vector, over.
Captain Oveur: What?
Tower voice: Flight 2-0-9'er cleared for vector 324.
Roger Murdock: We have clearance, Clarence.
Captain Oveur: Roger, Roger. What's our vector, Victor?
Tower voice: Tower's radio clearance, over!
Captain Oveur: That's Clarence Oveur. Over.
Tower voice: Over.
Captain Oveur: Roger.
Roger Murdock: Huh?
Tower voice: Roger, over!
Roger Murdock: What?
Captain Oveur: Huh?
Victor Basta: Who?

and

[as the plane prepares to take off]
Hanging Lady: Nervous?
Ted Striker: Yes.
Hanging Lady: First time?
Ted Striker: No, I've been nervous lots of times.

plus

Elaine Dickinson: You got a letter from headquarters this morning.
Ted Striker: What is it?
Elaine Dickinson: It's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important.

Last one:

Ted Striker: My orders came through. My squadron ships out tomorrow. We're bombing the storage depots at Daiquiri at 1800 hours. We're coming in from the north, below their radar.
Elaine Dickinson: When will you be back?
Ted Striker: I can't tell you that. It's classified.

After joining I used to think that for almost 8000 days.

Something I've used in a number of HO meetings:

'HEY! I didn't get a 'Harrumph' outta that guy!'

Only occasionally has anyone recognised the quote!

(Courtesy of Blazing Saddles for the uneducated!)

Jacobs, I want to know absolutely everything that's happened up till now.
Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.
Genius.....

Ferris Bueller

'The key to faking out the parents is the clammy hands. It's a good non-specific symptom. A lot of people will tell you that a phony fever is a dead lock, but if you get a nervous mother, you could land in the doctor's office. That's worse than school. What you do is, you fake a stomach cramp, and when you're bent over, moaning and wailing, you lick your palms. It's a little childish and stupid, but then, so is high school.'

One of my personal favourites.
