What a place to land........
Actually a mistranslation, the land owner on site was asked where they were, turns out he is German.
Wait for it.
Ja, das ist mein Field...
I'll get my coat.

So an RAF helicopter that has been on exercise in Jordan, which was en route the Greek bit of Cyprus, and whilst in questionable Israeli airspace, does a forced landing in a Germans field.
I'd just grab some water, and run

Landing "near" a Mine Field....I can top that!
I landed in three at one time.....French, Vietnamese, and American!
The Engineers had a map for ours.
The FE and CE were very careful not to drop any Spanners while they repaired the Problem on the Engine. Good thing one can clamber all over a Wokka without touching the ground.
Twas an old French Fort along a Canal in the Pineapple area west of Saigon....a 199th Infantry Regiment Fire Base. It was the only place I have seen smoke blow in opposite directions and meet in a single column over the canal.
Rumour had it that the Japanese had been there at one time as well.....making us the fourth Army to occupy that particular place.

According to the RAF, the Chinook is "a very capable and versatile support helicopter that can be operated in many diverse environments ranging from cold weather 'arctic' conditions to desert warfare operation
