Prince Harry looked superb today in Sydney

Prince Harry looked superb today in Sydney representing
Her Majesty The Queen at the Fleet Review.

Harry is making the Monarchy very popular over here
and he mentioned that Prince Charles was pushing
him to spend more time in Aus flying helicopters.
He mentioned Darwin.

The ships were great, the fly pasts very good especially
the Helicopters. I'll post a video of the helo flypast
when a good one gets uploaded.

The video in the link below has some footage from
about 2.00 minutes onwards.

Damn silly uniform, though. A blue beret, a pair of cavalry trousers and what looks like an RAF Mess Steward's jacket -

Yuk, indeed...

Every time he gets caught up to some sort of banditry his stocks in Australia go up. I think he would fit in well flying for the Army out here and he would be away from most of the British media which pester him to say the least.

Digin

I admire teeny-weeny airways and what they have done with Apache, but really, this uniform sucks the dog of death! Berets are not for dress wear, they are a field item of kit, IMHO! Plus, it looks like he's been dressed from his dressing up box and taken an item of uniform from 3 different regiments/services.

Envious? Yes, of the person, but not his cluster-f**k of a "uniform"!

Bud, the beret serves as the uniform head-dress of the AAC. Harry is a subaltern in the Household Cavalry Regiment attached to the AAC and therefore wears the dress trousers and tropical jacket of his parent Regiment with the AAC beret.

'Tradition', I believe it's called.

What about the laser show projected on to the sails of the Opera House? Now, that was truly remarkable and made the on-going crackers look a little Ho-hum.

Almost correct; he's not a subaltern, he's a captain.

Yup, tradition or no tradition, he stills looks ridiculous in a beret and a dress uniform! I agree with Clott on that one.

Berets are for French onion sellers and Frank Spencer!

That is a severely 'pastied' (as in pasty for non infantry types) he had there.
Surely that only has a place as head dress in the field, with a slightly more orthodox one for parade and ceremonial.

On the other hand I find him a good role model and a brilliant ambassador for what is good in the UK. He walks the walk as well as talking the talk and is 'one of the lads' as much as he is Royal.

On the contrary; shaped to perfection, although I would imagine it took an NCO to show him how.

He has done the Monarchy proud. Resplendent to be seen, very impressed.

Poor buggar if he is to be sent to the Colonies to fly with the Australian Air Corps. A well meaning organisation but rather poorly lead. Maybe he could shake it up and get rid of the seppo clap trap that has forced it's way in.

The Fleet looked very impressive on Sydney Harbour.

Re the uniform, to be honest I don't think it would matter what he wore,
only those currently serving or ex service would know what was what.

A lot of positive comments from the TV presenters, with some actually
getting the names right.

As for Berets, for some of us that is the head wear.

barnstormer1968
Berets are useless in the field, unless you want to get sunburnt !

"you would have to be an english refugee to believe that"
Yep
But if you look at a couple of the photos in the link in the next post below,
one of the early one shows an Asian lady and child greeting the Prince
and looking very happy about it !!! I bet she is not from the UK.

Doors Off
If he is sent here, it will be interesting.
No chance of him going into combat
