"I hear what you are saying" should elicit a response "you should be listening"
I had always thought "I hear what you are saying" was a euphemism for "You are talking absolute ballocks".

Similarly,
"taking on board"
I've taken to mean "You are talking absolute ballocks, now stop wasting my time and crawl back to your own pathetic little world where, just maybe, there is actually some meaning to your insignificant existence.
