Steely eyed volunteers needed ...

OMG the silly season comes early this year

Fritz Unger and his friends from Hanover, Germany, have spent more than five years so far developing their one-man, jet-propelled wing. Once completed, the backpack-mounted aircraft, dubbed Skyflash, will be the smallest twin-engined aeroplane ever built and could herald a new era of personal air travel. The team behind it say that it should be able to hit top speeds of more than 200mph, with a flight ceiling of 26,000ft, all easily steered by the movement of the pilot's body.

S@d that, I'd rather try the Colditz glider than that and I don't have any kind of flying licence.

Presume steering while taxying is done by knuckle dragging?

I think he needs a prayer mat.

Presumably because, if he gets airborne, he'll be:

"Comin’ in on a wing and a prayer ...."

They should mount a light machine gun on it. Then the Pentagon could spend $XXX billions developing a counter-measure for it.

I'm thinking he needs (1) a catapult launch, (2) a ski ramp arrangement and most importantly (3) steel toe caps for the "rotate"

The great thing about the Me163 was that if your guts didn't blow up on ascent due to expanding trapped gases, you'd blow up on landing when the dregs of the unburnt fuel sloshed together.

Probably similar results to look forward to if you fly the jet suit thing!

GK121 ... The Breitling Buzz Lightyear guy has to jump out of a helicopter to fly ... and he's been whistling around the European Alps for a while ... completely different "challenge" to rushing down Tarmac to get airbourne

To say nothing of the radio and transponder to allow him into controlled airspace.

all easily steered by the movement of the pilot's body
I wonder what the movement will be should he meet a windfarm at 200 mph. That may put paid to the O2 bottle storage idea.
