If the 2 individuals are who I think you are talking about then they have nothing to do with trials.

I certainly would not wish to cast aspersions on the ability of any of 101 Squadrons captains, indeed I was one in the late 80's and I am sure the high standard required from us has been maintained.The problem seem to bet the equipment necessary to safely and effectively do the job is just not up to it as yet and the solution to that has to come from the manufacturer who may be short on experience.

The AAR equipment is manufactured by Cobham. They've been doing it longer than anyone else in the world.

Perhaps, D-IFFers,

But Arters has a valid point:
....the manufacturer who may be short on experience.
I doubt whether anyone at Cobham these days has ever actually flown in a tanker, let alone has any real practical AAR experience.

And as for the major manufacturer whose 'specialist' actually said "A year ago, we knew nothing about trails"......
