Military Aviation A forum for the professionals who fly military hardware. Also for the backroom boys and girls who support the flying and maintain the equipment, and without whom nothing would ever leave the ground. All armies, navies and air forces of the world equally welcome here.

On the Recourse Sqn at DIOT years ago we had a (genuine) end-of-course prize called the `Sir Richard Head Memorial Prize` given, ostensibly, for the 'most valuable contribution to the course`; in keeping with the cruelty of Service humour however this prize was actually awarded to the member of the course who had proved to be the most intellectually challenged ; to my knowledge, none of the winners of the 'Dick Head' trophy ever fully realized just what a 'valuable contribution' they had really made; if they did they certainly weren't saying!!

Anyone remember the chap from 105 and 108 BFT courses at Cranwell - used to wear the name "Mr Meanor"?

Some years ago back at Leuchars there was a Nav known both as "Wedge", the simplest tool known to mankind, and also "Thrombo", a floating clot.
