Bugg@r me it's 203
Has anyone got any information on 203 sqn standing up to full strength to cover SAR after the CG interim contract has expired.
I heard that potential flight commanders have been approached with scope for 203 Sqn to cover Sumburgh, Stornaway and Prestwick.
I think the plan is for 22 Sqn to take on the OCU and stand up 203 as an Op Sqn.
I believe the plan involves the navy taking over the south coast with Portland and Lee on Solent.
I know they are looking at rushing through extra crews but i doubt the OCU will be able to cope.

In this day and age of an ever shrinking RAF, I'm surprised someone hasn't suggested creating a new Sqn to fill the gap, maybe by resurrecting an old Sqn numberplate....
Perhaps 201 could be given new life as a Sea King SAR Sqn, then we would have 201, 202 and 203 all involved in this field...
Oh yes, I feel that I should point out that I have never been a member of 201 Sqn (thankfully!).

I was forgetting about your 2 blow jobs, i was making the comparison with 4 speys and yes i was on 201 sqn when the closet doors were slammed open.
Just as well no body knows me on here.

And to think of all the times we joked about being posted to be OC Bogs 'n Drains at Saxa Vord...
Never thought I would see the 'Green Goddess' approach tried with SAR helicopters - 'Yellow Goddesses' has a stately (and, appropriately, somewhat sedate) ring to it, though. 'Red & Grey Goddess' doesn't roll off the tongue quite so easily, but I'd appreciate the irony of RN helos being operated from Osprey and Daedalus again!

I take it no one has hear the same rumour then.
The reason I ask is, I hear it from two unrelated sources, who said they were approached to be part of the new Sqn structure. They think the new structure involves two of the flights being daylight only with the crews being detached from within the Sqn.
It seems to make more sense than the initial plan of a mixed Seaking/Merlin Fleet.
