Training time to fly a transport plane

Quick question, on average, how many flight hours does it take for a new Airforce recruit to be able to fly right seat on military transport aircraft, like a Hercules or C17 Globemaster? I’m just trying to compare it to civilian flying requirements.

If he went direct to multi engine training from EFT he'd arrive on the OCU with about 150 hours.

C130J course is 33 sims (approx 90 hours) & 4 flights (about 8 hours in the seat) followed by 12 sectors of line training in the aircraft (difficult to put a number on that but say 40 hours).

Grand total of about 200 hours in the aircraft.

Good answer there for the hours. With reference to months and years, I have a rough estimate but I could well be outdated in my knowledge of the training pipeline... To get qualified on a Herc or C-17, for example...
IOT - 8 months
EFT - 8 months
45 Sqn - 8 months
OCU - 2 months (???)

Now factor in the hold times, which nowadays are very long... it could be anywhere up to 3 years...

Or,

How quickly can PMA get the sausage machine back on once the whole air force PVRs for the airlines? (circa 18-24 months' time).
