I do remember the Strubby Nav staff saying the "VC-5" didn't have enough legs to get the Staff N/Spec N students properly lost, but it was undoubtedly more comfortable than the Canberra B2s they replaced.
God, I'm getting old ... we used to get a sgt pilot fly up from Chivenor every weekend in a Meteor to see his lady-friend. Amazingly, I can still remember his name and his c/s [63]. Now where did I put the car keys?

Doesn't look as if they're flying off the shelves, how much are they up for? Not sure what the small jet trainers are next to the 146s (if thats what they are).

Last time I was at Kemble, the place was full of BAOR/RAFG drawdown gear and some old A10s. Now, lots of grotty airliners. Great playground though, and my last Harrier Force exercise was there. Was it really 20 years ago? The war stopped for the FA Cup final..

the Doms were sold by DSA last year to the guy at Kemble for about £150000 (6 complete jets and 5 spare Vipers) He hasnt been able to move them on by the look of things, although some were for sale on controller.com recently.
The last Dom is still hangared at Cranwell; it is planned for gateguard duty ouside SHQ.

PS: I take it, they're still airworthy, to be flown out of there. How long can they be hanging around before they lose their airworthiness certificates?

Almost certainly maintained over their long life to military standards not civil. If that's the case then they won't have recognised airworthiness certificates, rendering them, well, fit for scrap.

Cheers.. no protocol agreeing some minimum common servicing standard then. I understand the issue of Lightnings and Vulcans etc, but something like this that has a regular civvy post service use? If it is just scrap.. it is expensive scrap.
Why expensive?
Basic airframe circa 1966. Re-engined at all? Any money spent on them by MOD was many years ago. Internal layout not exactly VIP configuration.

I was referring to the second hand buy price.. 150k for 6 (cheap if they were going to fly, expensive if not)? I don't know, that might be cheap if they got recycled and stripped and if the market justifies it.
