TV Reporter flies in F15 RAF Lakenheath

Hi - i took a ride in an F15 for BBC TV Look East. A few of you were mystified that the report ended on me barfing. Technical glitch in the broadcast which meant the report ended half way though...

Full 3 mins film here at:

BBC News - BBC Look East reporter hitches a ride in a F15 jet

Enjoy

Alexus,

At least you managed to walk away under your own steam, which is more than a certain Top Gear presenter did a few years ago after an F15 experience. Having never had the pleasure of flying in an Eagle, I envy you, even with the tiger-parking serial.

Cheers,

SO

Welcome, Alexus, to PPruNe. You (and your missus) are familiar to those of us here who live in the BBC East region. However, having revealed your credentials as a journo, don't be surprised if (should you post frequently) you attract a fair amount of flak here!

In your favour are your balanced and sympathetic reports filmed with the guys in the sandpit. Good stuff. By the way, when's Stewart White going to retire?

I don't know, I have always thought that Alexus is one of the few better reporters on Look East. The current format in terms of some of the "news" stories complete with the main BBC news branding and music kind of reminds me Chris Morris' The Day Today or About Anglia about ten years ago and Patrick's Pantry doesn't even feature anywhere.

Welcome Alexus!

Like the above comments, I too appreciate your balanced and thoughtful reporting on matters military.

I felt for you regarding your F15 trip! Reminds me of a trip I had in a Lightning out of Colt.. I held my own but it was v.hard to swallow the pint of beer and hunk of mouse-trap cheese I was presented with in the crewroom afterwards!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but whilst there are no F-15C models in Afghanistan, there are F-15E Strike Eagles.

Nice work, Alex - us reporters don't get much chance to develop fighter-type g-tolerance (I feel sick every time even I put a mask on while we're still on the ground), so there's no shame in going for the bag! And boy, 9g is harsh!
