Oh I find that sad.

When I look in my logbook and see where 'we' went - what a sad end.

I was QRA Eng when me and the coach driver went to find 305, it was the first to have the new centre section and came back to Lyneham painted in grey and green instead of crud and custard.

It was hidden in B line's hangar in RAF Goatacre.

Oh nostalgia's not what it used to be.

Hercules C130 CJ aircraft
Is that like an RJ? Can't we even get the adverts right?

And I wonder why his parents called him this?

contact Flt Lt Seam Perkins
Sean perhaps?

Is this typical of the standard of the aircraft? Well done the DSA....

S41 (or could be 1S4, S14 or 2S1!)

PS, yes, it is sad. Mostly sad that they've had to soldier on for this long with long suffering ground and aircrews stretching every sinew to make a broken system work.

Tail numbers XV217, XV229 and XV305 are stored at RAF Lyneham
It's a shame that XV229 is a Nimrod! Guessing it was a typo...

F-H, XV229, Nimrod!?

Are you sure? I don't have my logbook in front of me but I am pretty sure XV229 is in there as a C130K! Maybe it was in disguise that day!

The XV series of registrations were all C130 I am sure, but may stand corrected! Pretty sure even the J models are all XV series.

As per Nimrod, hopefully one of the aircraft museums will be able to get one, surely the RAF museum either Hendon or Cosford will be entitled to preserve this iconic aircraft that has done so much. It would be a shame that not one was preserved.

Whilst we're getting pedantic, it's MoD Boscombe Down, not RAF Boscombe Down, these days.

I saw XV197 there the other week. She's minus probe, engines and external tanks. Not exactly a museum piece at the mo.
