MP's get JPA's little brother.
Just seen an article on C4 News regarding the new MP's expenses system. They now have an online administrative and expenses system, which seems to be total crap.

Ah, poor lambs! That's really made my day. Was Everything Done Slowly involved, by any chance? It won't be long before the system manufacturers try to nominate themselves for an award; wasn't that long ago since the good folks of Pprune thwarted a similar attempt with JPA...........

I saw it, too, and loved it! One even commented "it made me feel like a criminal just trying to reclaim what I am entitled to". Yes, indeed, my friend. And imagine what it is like to have to submit receipts for items over £5 (the MPs' limit is higher). Do they also have to have a signed piece of paper to confirm they are entitled every time they travel to a meeting? Bet they don't.
Do they receive their wages through this system as well? I hope so, and they can experience the joys/trauma of being paid incorrectly for months and months in a row and having random large sums deducted for no reason.
A female MP said that she would not have returned to the House of Commons if she had known that she would have to use this awful system. Funny, we were told to suck it up. MPs have assistants to do it for them anyway.
It's a shame the media haven't picked up on the JPA story more widely.

I too am very surprised the media haven't run something on the farce that is JPA.
Since it began I have been corrrectly paid 4 times and last month 'it' suddenly decided I owe just over 5 grand! 'They' have admitted it was a mistake but cannot explain how it happened - there is no traceability of who inputted the debt data and apparantly no complaint procedure as it has now been resolved. The admin people spend a couple of days every month sorting it out. Faceless, blameless, rubbish system. Ludicrous.
Hope our ever so trustworthy MPs get the same runaround.

Excellent news that the MPs have to use a similar system. It's not just the military being messed about the pay system. Try using SAP from IBM which has been forced on a couple of councils in the southwest and a constabulary covering Avon and Somerset. Sound familiar....

Concerned bobbies in Avon and Somerset Constabulary are convinced IBM's SAP system, introduced as part of Southwest One, is "not fit for purpose".
Southwest One involved computer giant IBM taking over information technology, finance and much of the administration of the police force, Somerset County Council and Taunton Deane Borough Council.
It was expected to streamline the way the police force operates and save millions of pounds.

Something came across my screen the other day (a .ppt briefing on how to make claims on JPA or some such), and I think it was suggested that the under £5 rule regarding non-provision of receipts had been canned following whinging by the NAO regarding the amount of claims made by mod pers which could not be audited. Can anyone confirm this?

Totally agree. However, if like us, they end up with a programme which is miles better than the old system then we should all be grateful that it is good value for money
