Heavy landing.

Was given an eyewitness report of a heavy landing by a Tucano flown by an overseas student. Think Yorkshire. Reported to have recorded 13G on 'touch'down. Major damage. Probable write-off.

At 13g, I think you are more in the light crash bracket than a heavy landing...

Think Yorkshire
No thanks.

13g is a bit too much heavy-planting, even for Yorkshire.

Did he walk away from it? If so, it's a landing; if not, it's a crash.

pohm - Writing off the pilot would be 'terrible' ! Effectively scrapping a Tucano is a shame -but no more than that!

I think such quips are probably unfair on Flyingmac; the way I read it, his witness was probably ground or indeed other air crew who learned the readings afterwards; that scenario should hardly come as a surprise...

I'm presuming the Tucano ( never played with them myself except very briefly during the aircraft selection competition ) has some sort of recorders, or it wouldn't be much of a trainer; anyway the various bent bits should give a good clue !
