I was at Farnborough in the mid 90's when the B2 stealth bomber did a fly past. It had flown transatlantic for a single flypast of F'Boro airshow and it was so stealthy that no one saw it......

The crew had mistaken Farnborough for Blackbush and they scared the livin' ***** out of a few puddle jumpers in the circuit......

Very Funny

I believe it was the B-1B, not a B-2 that turned and lined up on Blackbushe rather than the Farnborough airshow, this was in 2004. Perhaps the B-2 also did the same trick a decade before, but I can't remember it?

Errrr, wrong! It was in 2004 and it was a B52!!! (I was at F'Boro being hosted along with a couple of red faced USAF officers!).

See this on PPrune http://www.pprune.org/private-flying...-bad-show.html

or you can google for further.

It's not new, and it's a desperate PR campaign.

LM have been slated on costs and under a Congressional mandatory review where their cost estimates have been rubbished by the independent experts.

They are claiming that, because the new material is so, so much better and cheaper, the costs will be much lower.

I leave it to those here to point out where any new technology has ever, ever, been cheaper than that of a previous generation.

It WAS a B1B (maybe a pair) that waxed Blackbushe and it happened in '98 or '99. I enjoyed watching the whole episode unfold from the Watchman DFTI console up in Odiham Tower - how we laughed!!

My God,

When the Taliban and Al Queda read about the qualities of that F-35 stealth material, they will be forced to change their complete ECM ConOps.
