There were a couple of very smart examples at Sun 'n' Fun in Florida in April. One in full RAF colours and the other in green camo. Took me right back to RAF Turnhouse 1976! Will try and post pics.

BTW, I never saw it on a UK aircraft but the one piece bubble-canopy fitted to some Canadian aircraft is a thing of beauty to behold.

Just converting to type and the collective wisdom would be useful!
Ish,

Send me your email address by PM and I'll forward my collection of Pilot's Notes.

Same applies to anyone else.

Exclamation Ex 8 Sqn Chipmunk G-HAPY (WP803)

Bit of a long shot here, but I am trying to establish contact with the current owner of this particular aircraft as part of our planned reunion event for the Shackleton Preservation Trust on July 9th when we are celebrating 25 years in preservation of ex-8 Sqn Shackleton WR963 at Coventry!
WP803 shows up on G-INFO as registered to a company called Astrojets in Luton but their email is a dead link?
We would very much like to see this aircraft attend our reunion so that ex-8 Sqn crews get to see their old Squadron "Hack" once again, and I believe it is still flying?

Does anyone know who flies her, and can put us in touch with the owner / pilot etc?

I can be emailed at: avroshackletonwr963@gmail regarding this...

Thanks

Just a note to let you know you can post pics directly to the site.

Start writing in the submit box, scroll down and you'll see a box titled 'Attach Files.' Wide variety of file types supported

Yellow bar at top of page - User CP also has a photo library facility for you to upload from your hardrive to create a library. First example below is with that method.

Second example is as described in the post above. Much higher resolution allowed with this method. Showing it as a thumbnail until you click on it allows this greater resolution without messing up page loading times.

Option 1 gives you a long term library on the server.

Option 2 is a one shot method giving you much higher resolution and expanded file types. Makes pics better obviously but more importantly helps with documents and letters.

One drawback with option 2 is no image preview in the submit box - be brave and hit submit once typing and image upload and selection is complete

Hi folks,
Just signed up following perusal of this thread, but been a lurker for a while.
Immensely enjoyed the Chipmunk 70 at Old Warden last Sunday, which got me thinking.
I managed to get a few trips in Chippies with the Air Cadets, most of which I have full details for.
However, my first, as a very naive 13 1/2 year old wet behind the ears cadet, was at St Mawgan on 17th August 1976. I managed to not record the reg. of the aircraft.
Can anyone help with the numbers of any of the aircraft that might have been there at that time?
Many thanks,
Nige

Evening all,
I was lucky enough to be in the formation on Sunday. Here's the '7' and the '0' joining up. It was made up of 6 elements.

Chickenlover: I thought the "70" formation was brilliant! Well done to all concerned.

Two more AHB photos, both of 2 FTS and one of the same looping sequence:

chickenlover,

Great photo and I'm very envious of your flight.

I only participated in four-ship Chipmunk formations. I would be interested to read how this formation was planned and then brought together.

G'day Coff:

First off, do you have a location/date/serial number for the Chipmunk with the Lightning in the background please?

Are there to be any Chipmunk 'events' downunder coming up .
Not really. On the day only two of the five local Chipmunks were serviceable, while the owner of the other "goer" was overseas working, so I took My Girl alone for a run around the houses to celebrate.

However, the recent Antique Aeroplane Association of Australia annual event at Echuca was themed "The Chipmunk's 70th". 171 aircraft attended, including FIFTEEN Chipmunks. It's the largest number I've ever seen, in fact. Here are some photos from that day - they're all ex RAF Chipmunks:

Not quite the green grass of Old Warden!

Not quite on theme but thought this photo might be of interest, my father used it for the 1967 Kings Cup,and other races, as the official Naval entry
