Video: Scotsman reporter Lyndsay Moss flew with the RAF as the Calcutta Cup match began in real style - The Scotsman
Includes about 60 seconds of wescam footage.
Nimrod joins the wings at Murrayfield

AROUND the airfield at RAF Kinloss in Moray, Nimrod spyplanes stand majestic, yet somehow forlorn.
Some are awaiting their next mission, but others have already been stripped of any useful parts before being scrapped. The lucky ones are destined for air museums around the country.

Has anyone seen anything on the RAF or MOD website regarding the flypast, or is there an anti Nimrod bias there. Can anyone else ever remember the last time a live civvy TV broadcast, albeit short, was beamed from a Military aircraft in the UK?

Hoots.

Not being funny, but it's not exactly a spectacular event, is it.
Nimrod flies over rugby match at medium level in straight line on time. Camera and downlink worked.
Dambusters it aint.

Quite so - what's the big deal? With probably more navigators than engines, an RAF aircraft managed to overfly a static non-hostile target on time....
Nothing like as impressive as the civilian A330 at the Bahrain GP last Sunday - although only a short glimpse was shown on TV.

BEagle,
Congratulations, you have managed to write a post on a Nimrod crew without mentioning teenaged SNCOs; (I wonder what proportion of Bomber Command’s crews were made up of teenaged SNCOs)?

Just to clarify on the RAF PR dept's alleged anti-Nimrod bias: could anyone out there in possession of a copy of the official 2010 RAF Calendar please supply us with a count of the total numbers of Nimrod pictures therein (broken down into MR2 and R1 if desired)? And then could they confirm the number of fast jets in the fast-jet centric RAF's own calendar?
There's certainly an MR2 pic towards the end of the calendar, somewhat ironically as it turns out!

There are two Nimrod pics in the calendar. Jan has an R1 with E3 and Sentinel and July has the MR2 alone. These pictures are repeated in small format in a couple of other places. Not quite ignored I think!
