if you are the F8U-1's pilot

Would you mind tell me could 2270L external dropped fuel tanks could be hung under the wing of F8U-1Crusader? According to the Vought's official website the Crusader2 is capable to carry 600gallons external fuel tanks.
With photo to prove is the most wonderful evidence I desire to see.

The F8U-1 (F-8A), the F8U-1P (RF-8A), and the F8U-1E (F-8B) were not equipped with underwing hard points or pylons, and therefore no plumbing in the wings for fuel transfer.

So no... the F8U-1 could NOT be fitted with drop tanks.

In fact, the F8U-2 (F-8C) and the F8U-2N (F-8D) weren't fitted for underwing hardpoints/pylons either.

It was only with the F8U-2NE (F-8E) that the Crusader could finally carry anything under its wings.

I've seen references suggesting that the F-8J could carry them (the implication being that the piping necessary to carry drop tanks was introduced on that model), for instance:

Models G thru P could carry a 300 gallon droptank on each wing. They were all remanufactured A thru E series airframes.

"Models G thru P "?

The F-8 only had -A, -B, -C, -D, -E, -F, -G, -H, -J, -K, -L, -M (designated but not used), and -N models.

The RF-8G were remanufactured RF-8As.
F-8Hs were remanufactured F-8Ds.
F-8Js were remanufactured F-8Es.
F-8Ks were remanufactured F-8Cs.
F-8Ls were remanufactured F-8Bs.
F-8Ms were to be remanufactured F-8As, but not enough were still available, and the program was cancelled.

These all got new fire control systems, more powerful engines, and underwing pylons plumbed for drop tanks.

DF-8Fs were F-8As used as drone controllers.

Nice site with airframe serial numbers and detailed info:
