Valley

Sorry to intrude on the Military forum...if this is posted in the wrong spot, feel free to move it accordingly...

I've got 2 small kids who have an encouraging fascination for all things that fly and seeing as I've got a caravan in N Wales, I'd love to take them to Valley to see some military action. Where's the best place to get a view of take-off/landings? As a former inhabitant of deepest darkest N Norfolk, I've got pleasant memories of being taken by my Dad (ex-RAF) to watch the planes at Coltishall/Marham etc and of visiting Mildenhall Airshow - I'd love to give the same oppportunities to a couple of plane mad kids...

Thanks!

Why not send a request to the station public relations officer and see if you can get a closer look, ie a station visit? Valley has a public beach on pretty much 3 sides of it so thats usually a good place for a bit of spotting.

The caravan site at Rhosneigr is offset about 100 yards from the approach to and is a couple of hundred yards from the end of 32 at Valley. (I remember it well. Our son booked us into a B&B the other side of the road once).

When I did a Hawk refresher course at Valley in 1979, some enterprising students on one of the courses bought up most of the stock of squadron prints, zaps, badges etc. Which somewhat mystified the QFIs - until said students were spotted posing in flying suits by said car park whilst doing a lively trade in flogging the stock to the grockles at a considerable mark up.

An enterprise worthy of the legendary 'lad' Milo Wildpig!

Dunno - the link is broken:

Welcome to the Royal Air Force

The page you requested has not loaded correctly.
But then again, isn't almost everything else in the RAF these days.....

The Golfers Solution

If you play golf, play round Rhosneigr Golf Club. You would have cheap caddies.
If not nip in for tea and biscuits, the planes will cause you to duck as they fly over the patio area

Beags, that must have been about the same time the 2 lads from Supply Sqn were charging tourists for parking there at lunch time. Made a few bob on it as I recall.

If you can all tear yourselves away from looking at the lady in the picture, and look at the bigger picture.

It is abviously a picture of somebody looking at a radar screen, so why do we not see the letters and numbers back-to-front? Since we can read them, they must be back-to-front on her radar screen.

Or maybe it's really like that, and that's why she looks confused.

I'll get my coat.
