RAAF suspend all overseas recruiting

In case anyone was thinking about it, RAAF has just stopped all overseas recruiting. If you don't have a job offer, you ain't getting one anytime soon. Army and RAN still recruiting at the moment though.

Gut feeling is that it will start up again in 12-18 mths when they have used up all the people wanting to go back/withdraw PVRs etc.

With effect Friday 13 March 2009, the Royal Australian Air Force has ceased recruiting for members from overseas for all specialisations and musterings.

They stopped last year, shortly after the Carribou fleet got grounded. I think this is just the official recognition of that fact.

might have something to do with the fact that the government is suspending a lot of the immigration programs with the recession coming.

Athough I suspect that if one was a QFI with appropriate experience then there may be exceptions.

Perhaps the Aussies rumbled the fact that they recruited a whole bunch of our laziest FCs!

Fillin up!

I know due to outside job certainty we have seen an increase in local numbers and the RAAF is approaching our approved numbers, cant say for the Army and I still think the Navy is hurting for sailors not WAFUs though. The active program has been mostly successful with a few hiccups, I still think there will be an opening for the right calibre of person should we need them.
But you are right Insp D the FCs with no job/aircraft have spoilt it for the real aircrew
