RAF Leeming Tornado fly past at york for royal loco naming

hi guys
big thanks to the guys at RAF Leeming for the F3 Tornado and 2 x Hawk fly past yesterday over York station during the naming of the new steam loco a1 class Tornado

The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust

i am supporter of the loco trust and met Flt Lt Stefan Brown from Leeming who was very amiable, and the RAF band played on too,

met their HRH's Charles and Camilla who performed the naming ceremony of the new loco which then pulled the royal train to Leeds.

THAT explains it then

They were doing passes here over my village in East Yorks whilst I was washing the jag but was scared to ask in case I was banished to the spotters corner !

Tornado and 2 hawks close in with a third following a short distance behind.

It WAS me.

Rog, once upon a time, (many years ago) I used to be a spotter, with my Ian Allen book of civil registrations, myself and my Flt. Lt, father used to travel to airports / airfields far and wide and watch the planes. Simple fun, crossing off the registrations in my book.

But then again Rog747, you seem to frequent trainspotters websites......

Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone.

prepare for incoming...................

Thanks for the Flypast

Just like to echo a very big thank you from me dear old Dad who is a fellow gricer (Steam enthusiast) and one of the 70 or so main supporters responsible for the Tornado locomotive. He was at York Station stood alongsidish HRH and Camilla and they were all thrilled with the RAF flypast. Charles got some smoke in his eyes (from the loco not the ac!) but apparently had a great day. Let's hope the RAF continue to be able to provide these sort of spectacles for many years to come.

PS Has anyone seen (?) the spoof bus advert on email attachment entitled 'There probably isn't an RAF, so stop worrying and get on with building the f******g carriers!'. Very funny but a bit said for my old employers.
