FSTA - They don't actually have the money??

From the Air Tanker website:

AirTanker and Deutsche Bank, its financial advisors, will be working hard
over the coming weeks to select the lenders who will finance the project.
The expectation is that we will begin negotiations with a number of
potential lenders throughout the competition until the final selection is
made. The goal will be to ensure that the final terms agreed with the
chosen lenders transfer the risk away from the taxpayer while
guaranteeing full value for money for the MOD.
Does this mean that the project is hung up until they raise the capital?

Who on earth approved multi use for these aircraft? Have they not learned that you can't get a quart out of a pint pot.

will be quite interesting to see where this goes?
If they have not got the finance sorted, be fun seeing who will have the money at the moment to provide finance for the project, banks aint even lendin to each other never mind a daft idea like this.

Hope those Trimotors in the sand are still available

At the rate our banks are going, nobody's gonna be able to muster the deposit needed to secure the funding for FSTA.

Talk about complicating an issue.

Need tankers > put to tender > buy tankers > fly tankers.

Danger

To buy good quality low mileage ex-airliners for Tanker usage IS far to easy, there are far too many Snivel Serpents and Senior Officers who need to write papers for their promotions hence the long and totally preposterous method of procurement. With the state of NATWESTMIDLYODS banks I wager the IPT boffins are trying to eek even more life out of the Heritage Tankers.. God Bless Them! (The Tankers that is).

Surely finance shouldn't be a problem now the Govt owns most of the baks? Or bypass the banks entirely and lend the moey to itself to buy outright.......
