If you're using a time machine to sort the Flypast, how about further waves of Canberra B(I)8s, Sabres, Hurricanes and Bulldogs?

They fly Typhoons, now.

Thanks for that sunshine. Tad out of date by what the H. . . . they look good.

Jacko, thanks for the support. Rough pic of B(I)8s at Geilers - 3 Sqn's display team.

Formations of Sabres, Javalins, Vampires, Hawker Typhoons, et all will take some finding I guess.

Why oh why oh why isn't there a B(I)8 in one of the RAF Museums?

The last bomber mark in frontline UK service, the longest serving bomber mark and the sexiest. And they kept one, complete with Sharkmouth, at Colerne and another (again with sharkmouth) at Halton......

And then what happened?

Tossers!

Jacko

WT346 (the Colerne example) actually went to the RAF museum at Cosford in 1976. Stayed there for a few years but was scheduled to be scrapped and was sold to a London scrappie. However, the RNZAF museum (Christchurch) heard about it and, as they were looking for an 8, they bought it. Dismantled it was shipped to NZ in '93. It has stayed that way (dismantled) ever since. See here.

The Halton example was moved to Foulness and sold as scrap in 1990.

As you say, damn shame , no foresight at all. Considering the B(I)8s also stood nuclear alerts there should be a sample at Cosford alongside the three "V's". Would be a more apt airframe there than the F-111 in my opinion.

I knew '346 had gone from Cosford to NZ, but not via a scrappie.

Gifting the aircraft to New Zealand would have been bad enough - but selling it for scrap was unforgiveable. What do the historic aircraft committee think they're playing it?

And by 1990, XM271 was a historic beast too. Foulness?

That would have been like sending Spit 24s to Foulness in 1980.
